Got MeOk you got me with this one bc I really didn’t see it coming。 As usual there was a lot more going on and sometimes that gets tedious。 Pretty good story though。

Sex scenes are not enough to cover up too many holes， especially in the ending。 The sole survivor of a mass shooting of 12 when the killers are still at large is going to publish a cookbook under her own name so they can find her easily to remove the sole witness？ （She supposedly saw nothing useful but how can the killers be sure of that？） A well known town citizen can move in and out of the heroine's apartment on top of her restaurant workplace half a dozen times to do minor mischief without an Sex scenes are not enough to cover up too many holes， especially in the ending。 The sole survivor of a mass shooting of 12 when the killers are still at large is going to publish a cookbook under her own name so they can find her easily to remove the sole witness？ （She supposedly saw nothing useful but how can the killers be sure of that？） A well known town citizen can move in and out of the heroine's apartment on top of her restaurant workplace half a dozen times to do minor mischief without anyone noticing？ Somebody's grandfather's rifle is loaded and fires after who knows how many years in a glass case in a rental cabin？ A guy who can't scrape up $10，000 blackmail money gave a $3000。 necklace to two women， one of whom was so low rent she would have been satisfied with a $50 pair of earrings？ Even with binoculars， the heroine got a good enough look at a murder victim across a river to describe her to an amateur sketch artist whose portrait was accurate enough that someone recognized the subject？ Yeah， sure。 。。。more

Angels Fall4 StarsIn the aftermath of a traumatic event， Reese Gilmore is on a journey of healing and self-discovery when she arrives in the small town of Angel's Fist and finds herself putting down stakes。 Life seems to be looking up for Reese until she witnesses a brutal murder while hiking in the mountains。 Reese's past and a lack of evidence at the crime scene lead the police and many of the townsfolk to question Reese's account， but local author， Jamison Brody， is convinced and the two join Angels Fall4 StarsIn the aftermath of a traumatic event， Reese Gilmore is on a journey of healing and self-discovery when she arrives in the small town of Angel's Fist and finds herself putting down stakes。 Life seems to be looking up for Reese until she witnesses a brutal murder while hiking in the mountains。 Reese's past and a lack of evidence at the crime scene lead the police and many of the townsfolk to question Reese's account， but local author， Jamison Brody， is convinced and the two join forces to uncover the truth。 As this book is a re-read， I decided to listen to the audiobook narrated by Joyce Bean this time around。 While Bean is not a go-to narrator for me， she does a very good job with both the male and female voices。 She delivers Brody's cranky one-liners with aplomb and prevents Reese from sounding too overwrought and whiny。Brody is definitely a different type of hero for Nora。 It was difficult to like him at first because of his abrasive personality， but he eventually grew on me precisely because of his straightforward no-nonsense manner。 It is very clear that he truly cares about Reece， believes in her， and does not pity her， which is exactly what she needs。Reese is a likable heroine as， despite her apparent emotional fragility， she is a strong and resilient survivor。 The fact that she doesn't cave to the villain's decidedly malicious tricks is a testament to her strength of character。 As a re-read， the identity of the killer was not a mystery， but it was fun retracing Reese and Brody's journey and the last few chapters are intense and exciting。 That said， the book is in dire need of an epilogue with the reactions of all of the other characters to the revelation of the truth。 Overall， an engaging read， and I particularly enjoyed the small-town vibe and supporting cast。 。。。more

I've read a few books in the In Death series that Nora Roberts writes as J。D。 Robb， but Angels Fall is the first actual Nora Roberts book that I have read。 I have always associated Nora Roberts books as being romance， but Angels Fall is more suspense。 It still has romance in it， but it's more about Reece Gilmore's struggles to get control of her life after a tragic event happened that prompted her to move from Boston to a small town in Wyoming。Just when Reece starts feeling comfortable and start I've read a few books in the In Death series that Nora Roberts writes as J。D。 Robb， but Angels Fall is the first actual Nora Roberts book that I have read。 I have always associated Nora Roberts books as being romance， but Angels Fall is more suspense。 It still has romance in it， but it's more about Reece Gilmore's struggles to get control of her life after a tragic event happened that prompted her to move from Boston to a small town in Wyoming。Just when Reece starts feeling comfortable and starts imagining her future， she witnesses a woman being attacked。 She quickly finds that the town is a little skeptical due to her past and that she's an outsider。 It doesn't help when little things start happening to make the townsfolk and Reece start questioning her sanity。I have driven through the Jackson Hole area and this book made me want to go back。 It was so easy to vividly imagine the majestic Tetons and the beautiful meadows。 All of the characters felt real and I especially liked how Reece slowly and subtly transformed throughout the book。 I look forward to reading more of Nora Roberts' books like this！ 。。。more

My experience with NR actually started with this book。 Well， technically it was the adaptation of this book。 In fact， I was a kid when I watched the movie on tv and I was so intrigued by the book itself。 Fast forward a decade and so later， here I am。Reece is a mass shooting survivor and seeking for a job in a small lakeside town in Wyoming。 She wasn't fully healed from the ordeal when one day she witnessed a murder。 However， when the police checked out the site， there was no trace of any killing My experience with NR actually started with this book。 Well， technically it was the adaptation of this book。 In fact， I was a kid when I watched the movie on tv and I was so intrigued by the book itself。 Fast forward a decade and so later， here I am。Reece is a mass shooting survivor and seeking for a job in a small lakeside town in Wyoming。 She wasn't fully healed from the ordeal when one day she witnessed a murder。 However， when the police checked out the site， there was no trace of any killing happened。While some people were trying to discredit her， Brody， a mystery/thriller writer believed in her and trying alongside her to discover the mystery of the suspected murder。Okay， now onto my favourite part of the book， which maybe a little controversial。 The hero。 Brody is not your typical NR hero （at least from my five books experience）。 He's almost unlikable in some way。 He's insensitive， brusque， rude， and in a way he would've preferred， callous。 “I was in a psych ward for three months。 Being called a maniac doesn’t hurt my feelings。”“Maybe you should’ve given it a few more weeks。”“That’s the first time I’ve kissed a man in two years。”“No wonder you’re crazy。。。”But damn if that doesn't make him interesting in my head。 "You told me once before you were hot for neurotics。”“Yeah， I did。 Not only is there a difference between hysteria and neurosis， I’ve decided you’re not neurotic enough for me。 So I’m just going to use you until something better comes along。”Now onto some of the downside of this book。 The mystery is really not up to par in comparison to newer NR works （and her J。D。 Robb ones）。 It's so easy and the guilty party is so obvious I want to shake everyone's head for being so blind。 。。。more

This is the first book I have read from Nora Roberts。 I really liked it。The main character Reece is awesome。 Her spirit， tenacity， strength， and even her stubbornness is great。 She has some problems， but who doesn't。 Reece finds herself stranded in Angels Fist for a bit and falls in love with the place。 She gets herself a job that she loves and even a feisty boyfriend， Brody。Brody is sweet， aggravating and funny。 Who wouldn't love him。Reece witnesses a murder and no one but Brody believes her。 T This is the first book I have read from Nora Roberts。 I really liked it。The main character Reece is awesome。 Her spirit， tenacity， strength， and even her stubbornness is great。 She has some problems， but who doesn't。 Reece finds herself stranded in Angels Fist for a bit and falls in love with the place。 She gets herself a job that she loves and even a feisty boyfriend， Brody。Brody is sweet， aggravating and funny。 Who wouldn't love him。Reece witnesses a murder and no one but Brody believes her。 Their connection and interaction with each other is the best。 I love the teasing banter and the fun of this relationship。 As time goes on and Reece feels like she is losing her mind Brody stands by her side， knowing that she is not insane。In the end I did not guess the murder but I am glad that I was wrong because whom I thought was the murder I actually did not want it to be since I really liked his character。Rating: 4 stars。 。。。more
